Treasure Outpost is a family-owned gem and mineral shop located in the heart of downtown Whitefish, Montana, just below Copperleaf Chocolat. Owners Carlos Allee and Win Parker opened the shop four years ago out of their love and admiration of the beauty within rocks.
Some of the gems – such as bright-pink halite crystals – are in their raw, crystalline form; beautiful as nature intended them to be. Others are carved into decorative or useful pieces, such as selenite hearts and candleholders, thereby adding their intrinsic crystalline beauty to functional use.
This brings us to fossil furniture, which include sinks impregnated with ancient marine animals and benches assembled from petrified tree trunks and slabs. All come in various sizes and colors.
Finally, there's the jewelry. Treasure Outpost specializes in locally crafted artwork as well as in-store creations featuring gems and minerals . You never know what you will find, whether it’s amber from Poland or a petrified mollusk wire-wrapped as a pendant by a local artist.
Win and Carlos travel regularly to gem and mineral shows in the United States to replenish and grow their stock of wonders. If you can’t make it to the store, their website, whitefishrockshop.com, has a full display of the store’s wares. Items may be purchased through that site or through Amazon, etsy, or ebay. Very easy!
Oh yes – almost forgot. Children are more than welcome. There is a kids’ corner in the shop with small, inexpensive items for small hands as well as toys, kits, and even a stuffed dinosaur!
