Our Story

The selection of wools, potential projects, and notions at the Woolery Mammoth will make your fingers itch to begin knitting or crocheting something new....right now. Owner Cheryl Pasque remembers when the selection was not so great and welcomed the resurgence of interest in handwork and the fiber arts at the turn of the century, “It was a virtual wooly explosion! How exciting to have all these fantastic choices!”

From beginning to end the Woolery Mammoth has everything you need to complete your projects. As she says, “If you want to make something we'll figure out how you can do it.” Her information section of books, patterns and digital instruction is expansive - if you have an idea the chances are good that she has a pattern for it or can make one for you. Can't figure out how to start or complete a project or are stymied by a particular stitch or technique? Cheryl, who has been knitting and crocheting for so long she can't remember exactly when she taught herself, will take the time to help you out.

The yarns are a fabulous array of many textures and colors. There's sock yarn, thick wooly yarn, thin yarn, fuzzy and fine yarn, and many colors of roving (un-spun yarn for needle-felting and spinning). Wonderful wools, cottons, blends, and quality acrylics fill the Woolery Mammoth. Of course, there are all the notions you'll need: all sizes of knitting needles and crochet hooks, sock and mitten blocks, and the various necessary things that only spun-fiber aficionadoes would recognize. Looking for buttons? Look no more. If there is something you need that she doesn’t carry, Cheryl will do her best to order it for you.

Additionally, Cheryl has a selection of beads and findings for simple jewelry projects. The Kumahimo Japanese braiding technique, either with beads or bright cording, has become a favorite in the shop. Woolery Mammoth mugs, designed by local artist Karin Lamb are also available for purchase.

The Woolery Mammoth is a warm welcoming place to begin, indulge in, and be inspired about working with spun fibers....the tea and coffee are always on.
