Our Story
Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter is located 6 miles north of Eureka on Hgwy 93. We are a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter relying on the generosity of our supporters to house, spay/neuter and find forever homes for homeless pets.
Each year between 450 and 500 four-footed furry friends are rescued locally and from kill shelters around the country. By working with the underground doggy railroad we are able to save animals that are on death row from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, New Mexico and Canada. Read some of the heartrendering success stories on our Facebook page.
To support our shelter and services we hold several fundraisers and raffles every year. The largest is our very fun "Winter Warmer" dinner and auction held on the last Saturday of February at the Lincoln County fairgrounds. A close second is the increasingly popular “Paws for Pancakes” which we hold on the day of the annual “Summertime Festival” in downtown Eureka. Also, local quilters often generously give us a beautiful handmade quilt and local businesses donate incredible prizes - which we raffle.
One of our missions is to encourage people to be responsible pet owners and to provide education and support on how they can make that happen. We offer a low cost spay/neuter clinic every month for qualifying pet owners in Lincoln County. Also, the shelter has a pet food bank, donated by caring community members, for those who need a little help from time to time
We survive and our furry friends survive, thanks to the generous support of our community which extends from the U.S. up into Canada. Stop in to help walk dogs or cuddle with kitties. Foster a pet or two if you are able. We LOVE and rely on our fabulous volunteers who help out with donations, fundraisers and at the shelter. Join our “family,” which includes members with 2 legs as well as the 4-footed, at the Tobacco Valley Animal Shelter!
