The Lincoln County Fair and so much more!
This weekend is the Lincoln County Fair. And yes there are other things going on over the weekend in the valley. There is the BullThing at the rodeo grounds on Saturday August 27 starting at 8:00pm. And afterwards there is the Bull Bash at Abayance Bay. Trappers is having music as well. Sunflower Moose is having a fabulous sale you won't want to miss. But really the fair is what should catch your attention in the morning whether its Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Mornings are ideal to walk through the livestock barns and see all the well-groomed 4H animals enjoying breakfast. Or stop by one of the food booths where there aren't long lines that time of day to get a breakfast burrito or biscuits and gravy. In the morning, the weather is cool, the grass still has a bit of dew on it and there are plenty of places to sit with your cup of coffee as you watch the fair unfold.
Heavens Peak Organic Grocery
Community Spotlight
Running a business in a small town can be a challenge. Running a successful business can be an even bigger challenge. So when Heavens Peak Organic Grocery opened in 1996, who would have thought it would still be in business and doing a fabulous job serving the Tobacco Valley twenty years later? Heavens Peak first opened in downtown Eureka in the front of a building that used to be a five and dime (for those of you who remember what a five and dime was). The business started off a tad slow, but with good business decisions and a growing customer base interested in wholesome organic foods, it grew and grew. Soon it expanded into other parts of the original building so it could offer a wider selection, including beer and wine. And then, about two a half years ago, Heavens Peak moved north to even a larger space on Highway 93.
A Healthy Place to Live
People passing through the Tobacco Valley are often struck by its small town flavor, unique businesses, friendly people and bountiful nature. Often they don't notice that we have very good healthcare services as well. Over the years, North Valley Hospital and Kalispell Regional Medical Center both opened clinics in Eureka providing everything from annual physicals to physical therapy, internal medicine to ultrasounds, pediatric care to mammograms.
(not) Lazy Days of Summer
Summer in the Tobacco Valley offers more than most of us possibly have time to fit in. Perhaps you enjoy hiking in the Ten Lakes area or fishing at Dickey Lake or even going for a swim in Dickey's clear glacial waters. And now we are starting into the huckleberry season, which is a joy for anyone who likes those especially tart blue-purple berries plain or in pies or jam. Grab your bucket and head up into the mountains to find these delicious treasures (but please remember to be bear aware).
