The Spirit of the Season
The Spirit of the Season is one of hope and good will....you have many opportunities in our community to spread that Spirit to those in need.
The Food Pantry is taking donations of food that will be given out for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. They need all the fixins' such as turkeys, potatoes, cranberry sauce, vegies, pumpkin, fruits....you all know what's involved in a holiday feast! They will be accepting donations for the Holiday Baskets through Mon., Dec. 22.
Montana Market has a box set out for food donations. They will collect through Christmas for the Food Pantry.
When you shop at the Town Pump they'll ask if you want to donate money to the Food Pantry. Say “YES!” The Town Pump will match every dollar you donate so that your generosity is doubled by theirs.
On Saturday, Dec 6 the VFW will be hosting their 8th Annual Holiday Fundraiser. Starting soon after noon they'll have games like the Balloon Pop, Basketball Toss, and Card Raffle during which you can win cool prizes and help raise money for our kids. The fun-fundraising will go all day an will end whenever the games end! All proceeds go to Big Hearts & Open Arms, The Boot Program at the First Baptist Church, Shop with a Cop, and Toys & Coats for Kids. All money stays right here in the Valley and goes to help kids have a happier holiday and warmer winter.
Big Hearts & Open Arms is a nonprofit that helps other nonprofits as well as families in need. For more information or to help out contact Misty at 406-407-2160 or Tina at 406-407-2185.
The First Baptist Church of Eureka has a 24/7 collection box for boots and shoes at the church, 355 9th St, a convenient way to participate in the Boot Program.
The Toys & Coats for Kids program is run by area volunteers and helped over 200 kids last year. All of the money and items you donate will be used to provide warm winter wear and toys for our children in need. They will also accept warm outer wear for adults. The VFW will take your donations of new, unwrapped items. Also, you can contact Rose at Eureka Rural Development Program, 406-297-7374, to schedule a time to drop off donated items or to “adopt” a family for the holidays.
The deadline has passed for donations of food collected by the area Cub Scouts and the Tobacco Valley News during this season. However, we want to acknowledge them and thank them for their efforts!
Have a safe and happy Holiday Season and let's spread some cheer!
