Eureka Area Farmers Market

Eureka Area Farmers Market

The crocuses are barely out but we are already thinking seriously of summer, and before you know it, the Eureka Farmers Market will be in full swing. The market offers a great selection of fresh vegetables, baked goods, homemade jams and locally made crafts.

It also features live music weekly by some of the great talent that we have in the Tobacco Valley. Music at the Farmers Market is the result of a very successful collaboration, which is how many things in this valley get done. The Eureka Chamber of Commerce organizes the annual Farmers Market and arranges for the space at Riverside Park. The chamber works with Sunburst Community Service Foundation to line up musicians for every Wednesday throughout the summer. Sunburst works with Whitefish Credit Union to procure the grant that covers bringing in all those awesome performers. This summer will feature fourteen different groups including Deep Creek Union Band and Ray and Shirley Jacobs. Ben Chappelow, Latimer Hoke and One Less Karen are just some of the others who will perform. You can see the entire line-up on Sunburst's website. If you stop by the market weekly, you will get to hear country, classical, traditional folk and Irish music. The Tobacco Valley really is remarkable for all the talented folks who live here. So be sure to mark Wednesday afternoons on your calendar and swing by Riverside Park to buy wholesome local food and to hear great local music.

Rita Collins

About the Author: Rita Collins. I am a believer in the power of community and for now I call the Tobacco Valley home. I have lived in nine states and three counties and this community here amazes me - how people reach out to neighbors and even travelers. I've never lived in a place that demonstrates people caring for each other so well. And I've never lived in a place that has such a high percentage of talented musicians and artists. I work with the the Sunburst Community Service Foundation, a nonprofit that began in Eureka twenty years ago and now serves numerous communities in western Montana. And I just started a new business, St. Rita's Amazing Traveling Bookstore and Textual Apothecary. I never could have imagined life being this exciting in my sixth decade.
