Spring Golf in NW Montana

As grass in northwest Montana’s Tobacco Valley begins turning green, some of us begin to think of golf, and this area is very fortunate to have a wide range of wonderful golf courses to choose from. For example,The Wilderness Club on Sophie Lake Road in Eureka was ranked by Golfweek in 2012 as having the #1 golf course in the state of Montana. Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, this classic 18-hole course is shaped by a beautiful lake as well as stands of mature trees. Golfers may enjoy spectacular views of the mountains around every bend.

Indian Springs Ranch and Golf Course is another lovely course in the Tobacco Valley that is just off Highway 93 between the Canadian border and downtown Eureka. The Indian Springs course in flanked by the Whitefish range along its east side and takes advantage of the valley's natural beauty. By keeping tee times spaced at 15-minute intervals, Indian Springs Ranch allows golfers to enjoy the Montana experience.

For those looking for a smaller course, Jerry's Saloon in Fortine offers the perfect par 3 course. This is the ideal place to spend a relaxed afternoon getting some time in golfing and then to enjoy great burgers or a full-course dinner in Jerry's dining room. So if you are itching to get your clubs out and want to enjoy time on the greens, you are in the right place. The Tobacco Valley has what every golfer is looking for. Fore!

Rita Collins

About the Author: Rita Collins. I am a believer in the power of community and for now I call the Tobacco Valley home. I have lived in nine states and three counties and this community here amazes me - how people reach out to neighbors and even travelers. I've never lived in a place that demonstrates people caring for each other so well. And I've never lived in a place that has such a high percentage of talented musicians and artists. I work with the the Sunburst Community Service Foundation, a nonprofit that began in Eureka twenty years ago and now serves numerous communities in western Montana. And I just started a new business, St. Rita's Amazing Traveling Bookstore and Textual Apothecary. I never could have imagined life being this exciting in my sixth decade.
